Oh, what an exciting way to start out my second day in Washington, D.C.! Mr. Sammons took me to the White House where President Obama and his family lives! It was rainy, but we looked around and took some pictures.
Next, we went to Ford's Theatre where sadly, a long time ago, someone disliked President Abraham Lincoln so much, that he took is life. It is a really neat theatre where you can see real artifacts (things from the past) and statues. I took a picture of a group of Aplington-Parkersburg Middle School students. They looked sad because they are standing next to a statue of the man who did not like Abraham Lincoln.
Yeah! Look at me hanging out by the steps of the National Portrait Gallery. I saw a lot of really great things!
Here's something fun you can see in the gallery:
Then, I went to the Natural History Museum. Mr. Sammons took my picture with the Hope Diamond, which is worth close to 350 million dollars! Have you seen Night at the Museum?
Then, we went to the Museum of American History and saw Dorothy's red shoes from the Wizard of Oz and a ball gown from Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Lincoln.
We stopped by the Kennedy Center for the Arts to see if there was a show being performed. Nope, but there sure were a lot of people. I'm glad when Mr. Sammons folds me up and puts me back in my pocket during busy times.
Finally, we went to a memorial honoring those in the United States Marine Corps. Tomorrow is a busy, busy day! We are going to Arlington Cemetery and up and down many hills!
